(Continued from Comprehensive 1) Watching a documentary program on organ transplantation was the catalyst for advancing into the medical world. If you make the medical equipment necessary for surgery, you can save many people. I've always been interested in making something. In 2002, I entered the University of Tokyo Science Class 1 and was studying medical robots.
After joining Olympus in 2006, I have been involved in the development of treatment instruments used for endoscopic surgery. We are developing instruments such as ultra-small knives that cut out polyps in the gastrointestinal tract. It is really difficult to calculate back and design an instrument based on the doctor's request. I'm glad when the products I was involved in came out and were featured in conference presentations.
From this year, I am in a position to organize my subordinates. I think my current job is similar to raising a child. I have three children, but all three have different personalities. I feel that thinking about how to deal with subordinates every day leads to how to deal with subordinates.
My current workplace is very cozy. I feel relieved when I come home after maternity leave and childcare leave. After all, I like the environment where everyone works while having a good time talking. While working in such a workplace, in the future I would like to make products from Japan that are second to none in the medical field.
My hobby is working with children. Before this, I made a device that appears on the NHK Educational TV "PythagoraSwitch". When I move my hands while telling my child, "I'll make it little by little while checking if it works," I remember laughing at the company saying the same thing.
