Microsoft Store in Windows 11 changes dramatically
In Windows 11, the Microsoft Store has also been redesigned. Not only has the design changed, but the contents have also changed significantly.
Until now, only UWP (Universal Windows Platform) apps were published in the Microsoft Store, but they were not easy to use and did not spread. Microsoft was in a mess as rival app stores such as Apple's App Store and games, Steam, built an ecosystem.
Therefore, we are trying to radically reform and bring back users and developers. First, not only UWP, but also Win32 apps, .NET, UWP, Xamarin, Electron, React Native, Java, progressive web apps, etc. can now be published. I hope that a wide variety of apps will appear in the store in the future.
"TikTok" app for Android works on Windows 11
And although it will be a partnership with Amazon instead of Google, it will also support Android apps. Android apps work not only on ARM processors, but also on common x86 processors. In the event demo, we saw the "TikTok" app for Android running on Windows 11.
It seems that it will cooperate with Amazon's App store first due to adult circumstances, but I would like you to cooperate with Google in the future.
You will be able to install Android apps by linking with Amazon's App store.
We also changed the revenue structure to increase the number of developers of Windows 11 apps. For regular apps, 85% are developers and 15% are Microsoft, and for games, 88% are developers and 12% are Microsoft. But if app developers introduce their own approval platform to their apps, they can get a 100% stake without paying Microsoft. At the event, Adobe, which provides Creative Cloud and Document Cloud, was taken as an example.
Approved approval on its own platform
As a variety of apps become available in the Microsoft Store, users will install them from there as well. If paid apps can be sold, developers may come back and get excited. I'm really looking forward to the various Android apps available on Windows 11.
Windows 11 will be generally available from October 5, but at that point Android apps will not be available in time. It looks like it will appear around December, so I'd like to expect it and wait.
By the way, an app called "Windows Subsystem for Android" is already registered in the Microsoft Store. It's a dummy at the moment, but it requires a minimum of 8GB of memory, a recommended 16GB, which is stricter than the Windows 11 requirement of 4GB or more. I would like to check future trends, including what will happen in this area.
8GB or more of memory is required for the operation of "Windows Subsystem for Android". (The PC in the photo is equipped with 4GB)
